Barry Lewis

Founder and Senior Trainer at JW Training

For over 20 years Barry has been designing and delivering inspirational training for the Private, Public and ‘Not for Profit’ sectors and has created bespoke and specialist courses which have both excited and profoundly benefited the businesses and individuals he has trained.

After beginning his training career in the Private Sector and working with large corporate organisations, including Bentley Motors, Barratt Homes, BMW and TSB, he followed his passion and 9 years ago moved into the charity sector where he worked for  3 ½ years with Samaritans. Here he delivered training for both managers and front line staff who often dealt with a wide range of emotional and challenging situations from their everyday contacts, including vulnerable, suicidal and self harming individuals.

He worked closely both with Samaritan’s staff members and external organisations, their teams and individuals to build up invaluable skills and confidence in order to manage various types of situations in the most effective way for all involved. Some of his many clients included national Charities,  NHS Trusts, public sector organisations including many Schools and Colleges.

Today he is proud to be the founder of JW training, an organisation he specifically created to train and support a wide range of businesses and organisations, to help manage Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing issues.

He has been educated to degree level and has counselling qualifications (CPCAB level 2). He is also a qualified member of the CIPD and an associate member of the IMI.
He is qualified to use Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (Step I and Step II). He has experience of Cruse Bereavement and MHFA England training.
